Frances Morgan was born this Tuesday. Great rejoicing in the Morgan household for a new little one who is healthy and was delivered straightforwardly.

30 months later

There we are - 30 months later, I built a whole content management system for marksteychurch.org -easier than making joomla do what you want I discovered (I can do that too now). I also rolled out the same thing for colchesterchurch.org.uk and created a simple cms thing for salisburychurch.net. I've also become friends with Joomla - and have created a module for it that will put sermons up on the site from a back end sermon uploading site that I created.
Salisburychurch.net was good fun, because it implements the Google Maps API, which means that users of the site can drop a pin in the right part of Salisbury, drag it to position it precisely and then drag a small map around which will show on their entry.

The frustrations of Web Site building

I've just spent about a day looking at the various options for developing my church web site - marksteychurch.org. What a pain in the neck. Either you go for something out of the box, which will take you ages to learn, or you go straight to writing an entire CMS yourself from scratch. Give me a break. Even looking at components such as htmlarea gives you a real headache - it takes a whole ream of customising before you can get what you want.
